Job Title: Director of Schools

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our School of Ophthalmology as a Director of Schools. This is a part-time position, requiring 2 sessions per week (8 hours per week), and is a secondment opportunity for 3 years.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with the NHS England Postgraduate Dean to lead the delivery of various functions aligned with the NHS England mandate. As a Director of Schools, you will be professionally and managerially accountable to the Postgraduate Dean and will focus on improving learner supervision, assessment, and experience, as well as engaging faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes.

The role is evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation, developing multi-professional links, and innovative ways of curriculum delivery and workforce well-being strategies.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Support the Postgraduate Dean in leading the delivery of various functions aligned with the NHS England mandate.
  • Work with faculty to improve learner supervision, assessment, and experience.
  • Engage faculty and ensure effective educational outcomes.
  • Focus on whole workforce transformation, developing multi-professional links, and innovative ways of curriculum delivery and workforce well-being strategies.
Requirements:
  • Primary clinical healthcare qualification.
  • Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association, and/or regulatory body.
  • Currently working in the North West of England.
  • Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development.
