About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Development Underwriter to join our team and contribute to the growth of our mid-market commercial insurance business. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new business opportunities, working closely with our General Insurance Sales Force and Service Centre.

With a strong focus on technical excellence, you will provide clear direction on NFU Mutual's Underwriting strategy, Risk Appetite, and technical knowledge to deliver objectives and first-class customer service. You will also be responsible for building and managing relationships with our tied Agency Network and Sales teams.

This is a field-based role, covering the Greater Manchester and Liverpool area, with an average of 2-3 days per week on the road. You will be working in partnership with our cross-divisional teams to support the development of new business pipelines and attend client visits as required.

About You

We are looking for a self-starter with extensive new business Commercial Underwriting experience, particularly in the mid-market space. You will have a strong understanding of Property & Liability Commercial underwriting and be able to provide clear direction on NFU Mutual's Underwriting strategy. You will also have experience of successfully building and managing relationships, as well as being a confident communicator with experience of leading and influencing discussions and decisions with integrity.

Benefits and Rewards

We offer a competitive salary of £44,000 - £60,000 depending on experience, plus an annual bonus of up to 17.5% of salary. You will also be entitled to a contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave, and a range of other benefits including access to savings at High Street brands, travel and supermarkets, and a health and wellbeing plan.
