About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Specialty Doctor to join our innovative Rehabilitation team in Canterbury. As a key member of our team, you will provide psychiatric care to patients referred to the Rehabilitation Service, ensuring effective liaison occurs between mental health services and the acute hospital, and also with other agencies in the voluntary and statutory sectors as appropriate.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric care to patients referred to the Rehabilitation Service
  • Ensure effective liaison occurs between mental health services and the acute hospital, and also with other agencies in the voluntary and statutory sectors as appropriate
  • Help deliver a programme of training and education for acute hospital staff and mental health staff
  • Carry out assessments and provide medical recommendations under the Mental Health Act as and when required, and attend Mental Health Tribunal and Manager's meetings

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification

Eligibility

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment

Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in core psychiatry training programme
  • Good knowledge in specialty
  • Good clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English

  • Participated in continuous professional development
  • Able to use and appraise clinical evidence
  • Has actively participated in clinical audit
