Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to join our team at Assystem Energy & Infrastructure. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, specifying, testing, and commissioning Electrical Control and Instrumentation systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Integration and Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate and manage system requirements, ensuring seamless project delivery.
  • Design and Specification: Design, specify for manufacture, test, and commission both bespoke and commercial Electrical Control and Instrumentation systems, adhering to commercial standards.
  • Technical Reporting and Documentation: Prepare technical reports and documentation to a standard compatible with engineering best practice, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Site Work and Investigations: Conduct occasional site work to conduct design reviews, investigations, equipment trials, commissioning, and upgrade activities, as required.
  • Design Documentation and Updates: Update design documentation (DDRs), close out DCNs, and support the production of Handbooks and Maintenance Instructions.
  • Support to Installation and Commissioning Teams: Provide support to install/commissioning teams to resolve queries/issues during install, set to work, and commissioning.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Hold a HND/Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent level of continuous professional development and experience.
  • Engineering Design Experience: Possess experience of engineering design to commercial standards within the electrical, control, or automation industries.
  • Controls and Instrumentation Knowledge: Have knowledge and/or experience in Controls and Instrumentation systems and architecture.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Demonstrate a professional attitude and strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Instrumentation Solutions Experience: Have experience in selection and practical implementation of instrumentation solutions.
  • Power System Design Experience: Possess experience in power system design for control applications.
  • C&I System Testing and Commissioning: Have experience in testing, setting to work, and commissioning of C&I systems.
  • UKCA Compliance and European Directives: Understand the implementation of UKCA compliance (previously CE) and relevant European directives (Machinery, Low Voltage, and Electromagnetic Compatibility).
  • Functional Safety: Understand functional safety (IEC 13849, 61508/11).
Security Clearance

This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
