About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Automation Developer to join our team at The Scottish Government. As a key member of our Corporate Transformation Directorate, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery and management of complex Robotic Process Automation (RPA) & automated solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and encourage the team to take a holistic approach to identify automation opportunities, employing process optimization techniques and the use of LEAN/agile methodologies where required.
  • Apply a strategic mind-set to Automation, seeking commonality in processes and patterns, armed with the latest tools and technology to lead decision making around automated solutions.
  • Oversee and advise on the design, build, testing and deployment of automation process solutions, defining process and technical solutions, prototyping, configuring digital components, and collaborating with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and manage obstacles to help the team to overcome them while balancing multiple priorities, finding ways to improve system robustness, resilience, and stability.
  • Define control mechanisms and oversight of the prioritization, investigation and resolution of issues and change requests in the production environment.
  • Work with the technical architect and Senior management team to formulate long-term development strategy and ensure quality assurance.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management and engagement, encouraging and facilitating continuous improvement.
  • Define and coach the team to instil best practice standards for the delivery of automated solutions within the Scottish Public Sector as part of the CoE.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Extensive experience in automation development and delivery.
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of RPA tools and technologies.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
