About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Commercial Surveyor to join our team at Bloor Homes. As a Trainee Commercial Surveyor, you will play a key role in assisting our experienced surveyors with quantity surveying duties, gaining knowledge, skills, and experience in the house building market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the team with quantity surveying duties, including drawing take-offs, producing labour only rates, and maintaining databases.
  • Check the SMAS database in liaison with the Surveyor.
  • Assist the Surveyor in pricing non-standard client extras, updating the Cost of Sales, and producing H & S packs for Housing Association plots.
  • Assist the Surveyor/Construction Director in updating build completion dates in Eque2 as necessary.
  • Paying designated invoices and applications in line with Authorisation Levels and Commercial Procedures.
  • Site booking in administration, including liaison with the Site Surveyor and Payroll, checking rates, and record bookings.
  • Producing a Sub-contract / Material Supplier database and update as necessary.
  • Complying with and upholding company policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining all health and safety aspects associated with Covid-19.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Keen interest in Surveying.
  • Computer literate.
  • Awareness of construction methods, standards, forms of measurement, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Achieved or studying for a construction-related qualification with a Quantity Surveying bias.
  • Knowledge of contract law relating to construction issues.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and materials.
  • Computer literate in the use of valuation systems.
