Job Title: Trainee Surveyor

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Surveyor to join our team at Bloor Homes. As a Trainee Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting our Surveyors in the delivery of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carrying out site measures and drawing take-offs in liaison with the Surveyor.
  • Producing labour only rates and maintaining databases in liaison with the Surveyor.
  • Checking SMAS database and updating SWMP Carriers Matrix in liaison with the Surveyor.
  • Assisting the Surveyor in pricing non-standard client extras and updating Cost of Sales.
  • Producing H & S packs for Housing Association plots and assisting with Code for Sustainable Homes.
  • Assisting in the production of the Group Rebate Form and updating build completion dates in Eque2.
  • Paying designated invoices and applications in line with Authorisation Levels and Commercial Procedures.
  • Site booking in administration and liaison with the Site Surveyor and Payroll.
  • Paying designated utility bills and making general material enquiries.
  • Producing a Sub-contract / Material Supplier database and maintaining health and safety aspects associated with Covid-19.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent.
  • Keen interest in Surveying and good negotiating skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and computer literacy.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and willingness to learn.
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
  • Awareness of construction methods, standards, forms of measurement, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Construction related qualification with a Quantity Surveying bias or studying for one.
  • Knowledge of contract law relating to construction issues and construction techniques and materials.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety related issues and computer literacy in the use of valuation systems.
