Job Title: Learning Support Specialist

Location: Manchester, UK

The role: As a Learning Support Specialist with Aspire People, you will be working with a secondary school in Manchester to provide dedicated support to students with SEMH needs. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Youth Worker or SEN Teaching Assistant, along with a solid understanding of the UK curriculum.

Responsibilities:
  • Support students with SEMH challenges, developing tailored strategies to meet their individual needs.
  • Handle and de-escalate challenging behaviour with confidence and professionalism, maintaining a calm and supportive environment.
  • Provide academic assistance in Maths, English, and Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Work across mainstream classrooms, alternative provisions, or in one-to-one settings.
  • Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Help track and report on student progress.

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

About the Role:
This is a long-term, full-time position that offers the chance to work within mainstream settings, alternative provisions, or on a 1:1 basis, supporting students in small groups. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, patience, and a passion for working with young people with SEMH needs.
