The Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Trafford South Community Mental Health Team. This rewarding role offers a unique opportunity to lead clinical teams, provide expert care, and contribute to service development.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality mental health care to patients. Your expertise will be essential in assessing referrals, diagnosing complex presentations, and developing management plans. You will also play a key role in leadership, engaging with service transformation programs, and providing clinical supervision to trainees.
This is a full-time position with a competitive salary of approximately £135,000 - £168,507 per annum, depending on experience. The trust also offers support for flexible and less than full-time working arrangements, as well as opportunities to pursue special interests and engage in research and innovation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking assessments of referrals and admissions to the service
- Diagnosing and formulating management plans in complex presentations
- Providing management in treatment-resistant and complex presentations
- Assessing and managing risk, including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety, and risk of harm to others
- Preparing Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers' Hearings reports and attending subsequent hearings
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including external partners
- Providing cross-cover for Central CMHT consultant on non-working days, consisting of urgent Mental Health Act and CTO issues
Leadership roles include:
- Leading clinical decision-making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure delivery of high-quality care
- Developing service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards
- Engaging with service transformation programs, including attendance at consultant meetings for their service and directorate
Educational roles include:
- Providing clinical supervision for trainees in gaining core psychiatric experience
- Providing clinical supervision for psychiatric trainees in achieving competencies in core general psychiatry
