Job Description

Are you an experienced engineer looking for a challenging role in the defence sector? We are seeking an Engineering Manager to join our team, responsible for the delivery and upkeep of safe, reliable, and capable submarine assets.

As an Engineering Manager, you will be part of the Submarine Support Management Programme (SSMP), dedicated to the comprehensive support and maintenance of Vanguard-Class and Astute-Class submarines. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development of requirements and acting as the Engineering Governance Lead for complex submarine maintenance programs
  • Providing subject matter expert advice to the SDA and the nuclear team
  • Managing the technical requirements of one or more projects, programmes, services or systems
  • Collaborating with the boat maintenance and infrastructure planning teams and the industrial partner to understand the Plant Safety Case and infrastructure requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a relevant HNC (i.e. Level 4 or higher) qualification in Engineering or have equivalent relevant experience. You will also need to have experience of interfacing with the industry as a client, providing technical advice, and directing repair activity.

Key Responsibilities:

Person Specification:

  • Hold a relevant HNC (i.e. Level 4 or higher) qualification in Engineering or have equivalent relevant experience
  • Have experience of interfacing with the industry as a client
  • Have experience of providing technical advice
  • Have experience of directing repair activity
