About the Role

Cherry Professional is recruiting a Project Buyer for an initial 6-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for placing orders in accordance with schedules and requisitions to ensure timely fulfillment of business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Select suppliers based on factors such as cost, quality, performance, and compliance.
  • Manage necessary information and deliverables for Bills of Materials, Material requests, and Material budgets to support business needs and key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and contractors to secure best prices, shipping modes, and delivery lead times during the quotation process.
  • Identify potential supplier capacity constraints and negotiate savings or cost avoidance.
  • Order parts regularly to maintain inventory levels and manage MRP.
  • Evaluate and develop supplier performance through visits, meetings, expediting, and regular communication.
  • Review overdue purchase orders and maintain general housekeeping.
  • Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) for underperforming or defective goods suppliers.
  • Collaborate with QHSE, Engineering, Projects, and other functions to inform and satisfy key stakeholders.
  • Provide flexible and responsive purchasing to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Analyze and evaluate supply costs, quality, and suitability.
  • Manage all purchase orders from source to pay, taking ownership once placed and managing through delivery and supplier invoice matching.

    Ideal Candidate:

    • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and procedures.
    • Proficiency in using procurement software and MRP planning systems.
    • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
    • Ability to manage internal stakeholders working under tight deadlines.
    • Minimum 2 years' track record of buying raw materials and equipment, preferably within manufacturing or engineering environments.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret technical specifications and project requirements.

    Salary: £35,000 per annum. This role offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work with a leading client in the Derby area.
