We are expanding our expertise in technology transfer and seeking an experienced professional to join our team.



Salary & Benefits


This role comes with a competitive salary of £47,300+ PA, plus bonus opportunities subject to company performance. Job Description


We are looking for a Senior Intellectual Property Manager to work closely with researchers and officials to support the commercialisation of intellectual property assets, promote industrial engagement by researchers, and manage a reagents portfolio.



  • Manage agreed projects relating to IP management and commercialisation resulting from research institutions
  • Regularly attend sites in London, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Salisbury, Swindon, and Harwell to provide face-to-face support to researchers
  • Work with legal and patent subcontractors to resolve IP and commercialisation cases
  • Gather data and provide analysis to support development of simple business cases for IP commercialisation
  • Facilitate and deliver core training for researchers on IP and Commercialisation
  • Work with internal and external legal advice to review collaboration agreement issues
  • Evaluate appropriate management of IP for specific cases, working with patent agents when necessary
  • Support other team members with technology transfer activities
  • Assist in promoting industrial partnerships as required
  • Support, as needed, the management of the reagents portfolio
  • Support, as needed, the provision of entrepreneurial training
  • Support, as needed, due diligence reviews of applications to funding schemes for IP and commercialisation related issues
  • Support, as needed, researcher applications to other funders for the IP and commercial sections


Required Skills & Qualifications


To succeed in this role, you will need:



  • Degree (BSc, MSc, or PhD) qualified in life sciences with an additional qualification in business or law advantageous or comparable experience
  • Significant experience of working in a technology transfer role to commercialise complex IP and patent portfolios
  • Experience of commercialisation of intellectual property in the medical and life sciences area
  • Significant experience of negotiating commercialisation licences and spin-out creation with a wide range of end users
  • Ability to communicate complex information regarding intellectual property and commercialisation to a range of audiences using appropriate style and format of messages
