About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team at The Higgins Art Gallery and Museum, Bedford as a full-time permanent Learning and Outreach Officer.

This role is responsible for providing engaging formal and informal learning programs and facilitating access to museum collections and resources, both on-site for visitors and through outreach initiatives in the local community.

Main duties include collaborating with staff, volunteers, and freelance creative practitioners to manage the design and delivery of history and art workshops for school groups across all ages.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience in teaching, preparing learning resources, developing and delivering programs for culturally diverse audiences, and collaborating with community organizations.

Additionally, the candidate should have current knowledge of the National Curriculum, safeguarding issues, and subjects relevant to our collections.

What We Offer

A competitive salary range of £29,269 - £32,076 (pro rata for part-time roles), depending on qualifications and experience.

The opportunity to work in a dynamic and creative environment, contributing to the development of high-quality learning programs and activities.

A 37-hour working week, Monday to Friday, with a generous holiday entitlement.

Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in education, arts administration, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful learning programs and outreach initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Current DBS clearance.
