Job Summary

TT Electronics is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team in Fairford. As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the growth of our engineering capabilities, operational efficiency, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support front-end engineering activities, including NPI review and management, drawing review, ECR/ECN/DCR raise and review, deviation and concession management, and quotation and procurement processes.
  • Use 8D or other recognized problem-solving methodologies to eliminate recurring waste by identifying root causes and implementing resolutions.
  • Work cross-functionally with the business to support Project Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Design, Process Improvement Project Teams, quotations, and procurement.
  • Investigate true root causes of failures, create and support concessions, and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for customers as required.
  • Create and control manufacturing instructions and implement engineering changes to production.
  • Manage engineering for New Product Introductions (NPI) and liaise with customers to understand their requirements, specifications, and drawings.
  • Translate customer information into internal documentation, including design packs, general assembly drawings, wiring diagrams/schematics, Bill of Materials (BoM), Work Instructions, Test methods, and electrical and mechanical manufacturing drawings.
  • Collaboratively drive production efficiencies, including running Kaizen events and applying LEAN methodologies, identifying and tracking opportunities for improvement.
  • Review build practices and implement test jigs, fixtures, and process improvements to drive quality improvements.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with approved methods and quality standards.
  • Be proactive in health and safety matters to ensure the safety and well-being of all employees within the production department.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly data and analytics to the business.
  • Identify, document, and report unsafe practices.

Requirements

  • Sound engineering background with relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Proven experience in the engineering field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build a rapport with both internal and external customers.
  • Positive 'can-do' attitude.
  • Understanding of configuration control and product structure, preferably with experience in Autodesk Autocad, Solidworks, Fusion, Vault, and Inventor (or similar design software).
  • Ability to convey technical engineering issues to less technical colleagues.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to continuously improve and find customer-focused solutions.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacture principles and the ability to apply these to new and current designs.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
