We are seeking a highly skilled Research Manager to join our team at LGC Group. As a key member of our research management team, you will play a critical role in supporting the commissioning and management of our high-profile National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) portfolio of clinical and applied health research infrastructure funding schemes.
Key Responsibilities:- Commissioning Research Infrastructure: Develop and implement end-to-end processes to support funding calls, including developing guidance, FAQs, selection criteria, and overseeing the contracting process for funded applications.
- Contract Monitoring and Annual Reporting: Manage contractual requests, changes, and requests for information, and review and feedback on annual progress reports to provide assurance on research progress against goals, governance, and management of the award.
- Secretariat for Directors Fora and Activities: Develop an annual programme of meetings to support the networking and collaboration of scheme Directors, including organising meeting agendas, developing content for papers, drafting reports, presentations, and briefing documents.
- Flexible Support to Team and Community: Conduct additional administration tasks and provide high-level support across the team at peak work times.
- A Master's or PhD degree in biomedical or health sciences research (or significant equivalent sector experience)
- Experience working in a major research funding/management environment, research management within the NHS or HEIs, clinical trial/study coordination, or applied health areas
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, working to challenging targets and deadlines
- Evidence of ability to write reports and briefing documents, data analysis skills, demonstrating excellent attention to detail
- Team player with an ability to build effective working relationships
- Current knowledge of the UK's health and care research and policy landscape
- Experience in research/grants management
- Experience in stakeholder management within and across multiple organisations
