Job Description

As a Research Manager at LGC Group, you will play a crucial role in the end-to-end process of research management, from launching new calls for applications to contracting and active monitoring of funded projects. This position requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with senior individuals in various organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate funding agreements for projects recommended for funding, including milestones, financial arrangements, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage a portfolio of funded projects, monitoring delivery progress and financial performance, reviewing intellectual property plans, and managing contractual changes.
  • Assist in preparing regular and ad hoc programme reports, papers, and minutes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A biomedical or health sciences degree.
  • Experience working in a research management environment.
  • Experience liaising with senior individuals in various organizations.
  • Good knowledge of biomedical and health research disciplines.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in using email and other web-based applications, including online databases.
  • Ability to distil and summarise complex information.

Desired Criteria:

  • M.Sc. or PhD in a biomedical field.
  • Experience working on health-related international development projects supported by ODA funding.
  • A track record of successful management of international or remotely delivered projects involving multiple organizations.
  • At least three years' experience in research management.
  • Experience in report writing and evaluation of research outcomes.
  • Experience in developing and working to agreed quality practices and standards.
  • Experience in building stakeholder relationships and responding effectively to enquiries from a wide range of global stakeholders.

  • Ability to work to a high level of accuracy with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, working to challenging targets and deadlines.
  • Cultural awareness/sensitivity, and evidence of a commitment to diversity and equality of opportunity.
  • A continuous improvement mentality, with a desire to provide an effective and efficient research management service for all stakeholders.

Additional Information:

Salary and benefits include £39,200 PA, bonus subject to company performance, 25 days annual leave, plus public holidays (UK), enhanced contributory pension scheme, life insurance, Benenden Healthcare, season ticket loan, laptop, IT equipment, and remote IT support.

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract position, ending on the 31st March 2025. The role is office-based, with an expectation for all employees to attend our offices a minimum of 4 days a month, which might increase, subject to team requirements.
