Pharmaceutical Safety Expert

About the Role:

In this exciting opportunity, you will be a key member of the medicines safety team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Pharmaceutical Safety Expert, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe use of medicines throughout the trust.

This challenging and rewarding role provides an opportunity to expand your expertise and skillset, to be involved in service development or research and to put your management and leadership skills into action in a supportive setting.

Main Duties:
  • To promote the safe use of medicines in accordance with legislation, guidance and evidence-based best practice.
  • To work with corporate and divisional colleagues to ensure medication risks are identified, assessed and risk reduction measures put in place and monitored.
  • To promote a multidisciplinary approach to medicines safety and ensure that all healthcare professionals are trained and competent in safe medicines use.
  • To act as a mentor and role model and be a source of expert medication safety practice and to raise the profile and promote sharing and learning with colleagues and patients locally.
  • To promote learning and sharing of experiences in risk reduction and improvement methodologies in relation to medicines safety.
  • To participate in audit, research and quality improvement to support medicines safety.
  • To use innovation to support effective patient outcomes, improve experience, enhance cost-effectiveness and particularly to support safety improvement.
Person Specification:Qualifications:
  • Degree in Pharmacy (Masters) or equivalent.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Post-Graduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or equivalent experience.
Experience:
  • Broad clinical pharmacy provision in a number of different clinical areas or sectors.
  • Delivering quality improvements and change management.
  • Risk management and investigation of incidents.
Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position is estimated to be around £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
