We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Support Liaison to join our team at GBS Global Applied Knowledge. This exciting opportunity is based in Birmingham and offers a competitive salary of £28,000 - £30,000 per annum.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to students, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to succeed academically. As an Academic Support Liaison, you will be the first point of contact for students, offering guidance and advice on academic matters.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining a deep understanding of all support services available at GBS and partner organisations
  • Guiding students in accessing these support services
  • Triage student problems, offering immediate support or referring them to the relevant service
  • Understanding mitigating circumstances, deferral procedures, and other academic regulations to advise students accordingly
  • Providing basic academic support to students, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Referring students to the appropriate support service for their needs
  • Helping students navigate learning resources, including library and e-library services
  • Providing basic IT support and signposting students to relevant helpdesks
  • Identifying and reporting common academic and IT issues that may benefit from a pre-emptive solution
  • Monitoring student attendance and re-engaging those who are missing sessions
  • Maintaining accurate records of student contact and referring students with poor attendance to the Retention Team
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree and typically 5 years of administrative experience in a busy environment, ideally in Higher Education
  • A strong sense of service delivery and customer/student-focused approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong administrative skills, with proficiency in MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook Mail
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
  • Flexibility, approachability, and a strong customer service ethic
  • Ability to handle sensitive and personal information with tact and confidentiality
