Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Consultant

Barclay Simpson is seeking a highly skilled Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Consultant to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive BC/DR plans for our clients in the financial services sector. The ideal candidate will have experience in BC/DR planning, risk management, and regulatory compliance, with a strong understanding of IT infrastructure and global applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • BC/DR Plan Development: Formulate and implement BC/DR strategies that align with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk analyses to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities across IT landscapes.
  • DORA Compliance: Ensure BC/DR plans comply with the latest DORA regulations and other relevant financial industry standards.
  • Gap Analysis: Conduct assessments of current BC/DR capabilities and identify gaps in business operations or IT asset recovery.
  • Plan Testing and Simulation: Develop and execute disaster recovery tests, tabletop exercises, and real-life scenario simulations to validate BC/DR plan effectiveness.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed documentation for BC/DR plans and provide comprehensive reports for executive and regulatory reviews.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive BC/DR strategies and provide guidance to business units.
  • Incident Response Management: Advise on the integration of BC/DR plans with incident response strategies for rapid and effective recovery.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Proven experience in BC/DR planning, preferably within the financial services sector.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of financial services regulations, with a focus on DORA.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, global applications, cloud-based services, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Testing Expertise: Proven experience in designing and executing BC/DR tests and simulations.
  • Risk Management: Experience in conducting risk assessments, threat modelling, and impact analysis.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
