About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our Data Science team at easyJet. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing optimization models, analyzing data to identify innovation opportunities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive delivery of the models we build.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of optimization algorithms and mathematical models that solve complex business problems with minimal support from senior team members.
  • Collaborate with the data science and analytics team to advance the team's optimization capabilities.
  • Communicate complex optimization concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in the majority of the Data Science Project Lifecycle utilizing knowledge of the Data Science Toolbox.
Management Track

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for:

  • Defining clear objectives for each individual you manage.
  • Ensuring each individual you manage has a personal development plan and regularly proactively works on it.
  • Carrying out people routines for direct reports.
Specialist Track

As a Specialist in the Data Science team, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing a deep knowledge of a sufficiently broad area of specialism (e.g. a Technical area such as Optimization, or a Business area such as Network & Scheduling), and acting as a valued and trusted expert within the Data Science team.
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues within the Data Science team to help them develop technical excellence.
  • Delivering training sessions for the Data Science team in your specialist area.
Requirements
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and one compute-optimized language.
  • Intermediate knowledge of optimization techniques such as Linear Programming, Integer Programming, Mixed-Integer Programming, constraint programming.
  • Familiarity with optimization platforms/packages (Gurobi, ORTools CPLEX, PuLP or similar).
  • Knowledge of the Data Science Toolbox (i.e. the fundamentals of Mathematics and Statistics, computer programming, Data Ingestion, Data Munging, Data visualization, Machine Learning, Optimization, Simulation, Reinforcement Learning, and Big Data techniques and technologies).
  • A good analytical background, with a degree or MSc in a scientific/engineering field (Statistics, Maths, Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Sciences) or equivalent commercial experience.
