SEN Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will have a passion for helping pupils become lifelong learners within a SEN education setting.

The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of basic Special Education needs, such as ADHD and ASD. Experience and knowledge with PECS or Makaton would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with SEN in a primary setting
  • Assisting teachers with lesson planning and delivery
  • De-escalating distressed behaviours
  • Collaborating with other staff members to provide a supportive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills with excellent spoken and written English
  • A genuine passion and desire to work with SEN pupils
  • Recent experience working within a primary setting
  • Recent knowledge of working with Early Years, KS1 and KS2
  • A Child DBS on the Update Service (or willing to process one)
  • Ability to collaborate well with others
  • A caring, calm and proactive nature with a keen interest in SEN
