Job Title: Head of German Department

We are seeking an exceptional Head of German Department to lead our thriving German Department at Surbiton High School in Kingston upon Thames.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering outstanding teaching and learning while inspiring and empowering our pupils to achieve their full potential in German.

As a key member of our Modern Foreign Languages Department, you will join a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about languages and committed to providing a rich and engaging learning experience for our pupils.

You will be responsible for leading the German Department, including curriculum development, teaching, and assessment. You will also contribute to the development of the Modern Foreign Languages Department, working closely with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective language curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the German Department, including curriculum development, teaching, and assessment.
  • Contribute to the development of the Modern Foreign Languages Department, working closely with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective language curriculum.
  • Teach German to pupils at various levels, including GCSE and A-level.
  • Assess pupil progress and provide feedback to pupils and parents.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies to improve pupil outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements:

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who has a passion for languages and a commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learning. You will have a strong track record of teaching and leading in a secondary school setting, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate pupils.

You will be a team player who is able to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve departmental and school goals. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.

You will be a qualified teacher with a strong understanding of the National Curriculum and the ability to teach German to pupils at various levels. You will also have a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
