Role Overview

Cawood Scientific is seeking a dedicated Environmental Technician to join our Field Services Team. This role involves conducting routine environmental monitoring across our services and activities, primarily working on-site.

Reporting to the Area Manager, the successful candidate will be competent across various services and encouraged to specialize in specific areas, with the aim of becoming a Senior Technician after extensive training and exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine environmental monitoring across Water, Construction, and Compliance services, adhering to company protocols, quality assurance requirements, and client contract specifications.
  2. Perform regular checks and maintenance on environmental control systems and client infrastructure.
  3. Deliver a reliable, efficient, and professional service to clients, ensuring a positive and long-term relationship.
  4. Engage with clients on-site, building trust and providing dependable support.
  5. Maintain a positive image by keeping equipment, vehicles, and PPE clean and well-maintained.
  6. Respect company equipment and vehicles, ensuring regular calibrations and maintenance are completed according to protocols.
  7. Collaborate with the team within regions, promoting morale and offering assistance whenever possible.
  8. Report any deviations from methods or non-conformances to Area Managers, Data Analysts, and Account Managers, ensuring data integrity and minimizing gaps.
  9. Manage time effectively, reviewing schedules and reporting to the Scheduling/Project Controller to optimize workflows.
  10. Manage data accurately, adhering to client and company requirements, and report data to Data Analysts in a timely and proper format.
  11. Prioritize safety in field works, reporting accidents and near misses immediately to the Area Manager and client, in accordance with company accreditation and policy.
  12. Comply with the 'Stay Safe' remote working application when working on-site.
  13. Liaise with laboratories and couriers to ensure field-collected samples are compliant.
  14. Assist with on-site training of new employees, providing proactive support for their onboarding process.
  15. Complete routine company admin tasks, including expenses and vehicle checks, on a monthly basis.

Requirements:

  1. IT Literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  2. Fluency in written and spoken English.
  3. Full UK Driving License.
  4. Experience working outdoors, with a willingness to work in various weather conditions.
  5. Proven problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  6. Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  7. Excellent communication skills, especially when working remotely.
  8. Willingness to engage with clients and stakeholders.
  9. Flexibility to work weekends, travel, and overnight stays away from home.
  10. Some experience in environmental monitoring is advantageous, but full training will be provided.
  11. Southeast London area preferred.
