We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Section Engineer to join our team at Liberty Steel Group. As a key member of our plant operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our mechanical systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the mechanical section team to ensure the effective maintenance and repair of plant equipment and systems.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and optimize production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Manage and develop the skills of the mechanical section team to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and expertise to perform their roles effectively.
- Develop and implement a daily plan for the mechanical section team, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Engineering qualification (HNC or higher) and at least 5 years experience in a supervisory or technical role.
- Plant engineering experience, ideally with an understanding of VIM, VAR, ESR Furnaces, Heat Treatment Furnaces and associated auxiliary equipment.
- Experience and knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics and VAC systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles and reliability-based maintenance.
- Well-developed communication and relationship building skills.
- Ability to work with various stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of risk management, Health & Safety legislation and their application in a steelworks environment.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem solving skills.
- Experience with a CMMS (INFOR current system).
