Warehouse Operations Manager

£26,768 - £31,489 depending on experience + £1.42 p hour Night allowance

5 days per week (including 1 in 3 weekends)

We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to support and engage a diverse team. The ideal candidate has the drive and motivation to support the Operations Manager with the organisation and control of efficient and profitable operations within the depot.

The successful candidate will be required to support the Operations Manager with the supervision of effective operations and adherence to H&S legislation. They will also be responsible for carrying out supervisory tasks as required by the Operations Manager, covering areas of operations when low on resources, and ensuring effective operations in the temporary absence of the Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support the Operations Manager with the supervision of effective operations and adherence to H&S legislation
  • To carry out supervisory tasks as required by the Operations Manager
  • To cover areas of operations when low on resources as requested by the Operations Manager to ensuring consistent operational performance
  • To ensure effective operations in the temporary absence of the Operations Manager
  • To assist with staff scheduling, including absence management and performance
  • To assist the Operations Manager in the effective use and maintenance of all equipment and machinery

Key Requirements

  • Good level of Maths and English and working knowledge of Microsoft programmes- Word and Excel is desirable
  • Warehousing experience essential
  • Excellent communication skills and the capacity to build good working relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Strong organisation and time management skills essential
  • Ability to deal with conflict in an effective and professional manner
  • Shows a commitment to ongoing personal development and training, always striving to improve
  • First line Management experience and experience in managing people in a food distribution environment is essential
  • IT Literate and knowledge of using a WMS system would be an advantage
