An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified/Trainee General Surgery Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) within the General Surgery Division at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be an important member of the surgical team, working closely with existing SCPs, Junior Doctors, and consultants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the management of General Surgical patients in in-patient and out-patient settings
  • Assist the operating surgeon during elective and emergency cases
  • Undertake independent surgical procedures under consultant supervision once deemed competent
  • Contribute to assessment and preparation of pre-operative patients in clinic and run wound care clinics

The trust is committed to expanding the role of the SCP and delivering excellent patient care. The successful candidate will be supported to complete the accredited 3-year MSc Surgical Practice course, fully funded by the trust.

About the Role:
  • Evidence of championing diversity in previous roles is essential

Estimated salary: £30,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
