**Job Overview**

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Site Infection Surveillance Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our infection prevention and control team, you will play a critical role in preventing surgical site infections and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Lead the collection and analysis of SSI data for relevant categories, working closely with the Infection Prevention and Control Team.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce SSI rates, including the development of protocols and policies to facilitate accurate data collection and dissemination of results.
  • Supervise the activities of the SSIS Assistant, ensuring deadlines for national surveillance data submission are met.
  • Contribute to the provision of specialist training and education to staff on SSI prevention and management.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to apply learning from data to improve service delivery.

**Requirements**

  • Registered Nurse with significant registration experience in a surgical setting.
  • ENB 998 or equivalent qualification.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of surgical nursing practice and current guidelines on SSI prevention.
  • Ability to motivate and influence individuals through excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
