About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Social Work Specialist to join our team at Polaris Community, a leading provider of children's services in the UK. As a key member of our fostering services team, you will be responsible for supporting foster parents and their families in achieving outstanding outcomes for children and young people in foster care.

As a Supervising Social Worker, you will have a strong background in social work, with a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and child safeguarding procedures. You will also possess excellent communication and report-writing skills, as well as the ability to travel extensively and transport children and young people in sometimes stressful situations.

The role involves:

  • Providing regular supervision to allocated foster parents
  • Supporting foster parents in providing a safe, healthy, nurturing, and learning environment for children and young people
  • Ensuring foster parents understand the fostering task, competencies, and standards expected
  • Working in partnership with other agencies to identify needs within the foster family
  • Attending meetings and providing reports for commissioning teams
  • Promoting participation of children and young people in accessing resources and opportunities in their local community
Key Responsibilities
  • Produce high-standard reports and documents
  • Provide out-of-hours support on a rota basis
  • Participate in day duty system on a rota basis supporting referrals team
  • Undertake initial home visits and Form F Assessments
Requirements
  • Social Work qualification
  • Professional registration with Social Work England or equivalent
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of relevant legislation and child safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to travel extensively, including occasional nights away
  • Full driving licence

Location

Salary

Up to £40,532 per annum (prorated), dependent upon experience
