About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Planning Enforcement Officer to join our Enforcement Team at Wiltshire Council.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex enforcement investigations of alleged breaches of planning control, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement effective enforcement strategies, promoting high-quality, sustainable development in line with the Development Plan and other relevant considerations.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues, stakeholders, and the public on planning enforcement matters, ensuring a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to planning enforcement, ensuring they are up-to-date and effective.
  • Work closely with other departments and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to planning enforcement, achieving the best possible outcomes for the community.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in planning enforcement, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly organized and efficient, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
