Job Title: Old Age Psychiatry Consultant

Medacs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Old Age Psychiatry Consultant to join our team at Mersey Care NHS Trust. As a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality psychiatric services to older patients at Hollins Park Hospital.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to join our team and contribute to the provision of exceptional care to elderly patients. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with colleagues to develop and implement effective treatment plans, provide clinical and educational support to junior doctors, and participate in research and academia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct new referral assessments, deliver therapy, and refer patients to psychology colleagues for relevant interventions.
  • Formulate care and treatment plans, prescribe treatment, and provide guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
  • Communicate with patients and the multidisciplinary team on shared patient decision making.
  • Work in and lead a multidisciplinary team, assessing and prioritizing patient requirements, and delegating effectively to others.
  • Recognize, review, and report patient changes to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks, such as keeping records and monitoring treatment plans.
  • Teach and train junior doctors, medical students, and other team members.
Requirements
  • MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) or equivalent.
  • 6 months recent NHS experience within the last 3 years.
