Job Title: Old Age Psychiatrist

We are seeking an experienced Old Age Psychiatrist to join our team at North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to older adults with complex mental health needs.

About the Role

The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care to service users on Irwell ward, a 17-bedded acute assessment ward for older adults with functional mental health problems. You will be responsible for assessing and managing service users, supervising trainee doctors, and working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage service users on Irwell ward, including completing mental health act documentation and capacity assessments
  • Supervise trainee doctors and provide clinical guidance and support
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care and ensure safe discharges
  • Participate in clinical audits and service evaluations to improve patient outcomes
Person Specification
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council or within 6 months of CCST/CCT in Old Age Psychiatry
  • Section Approval and Approved Clinician Status
  • Excellent clinical knowledge and skills in Old Age Psychiatry
