Reed Accountancy & Finance is currently supporting our client, a well-established construction company, in seeking an experienced Interim Company Accountant to join their team during a period of transition. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong background in accounting within the construction industry. This role is critical in providing financial guidance and support to the company during a period of transition for up to 5 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all company financial accounts and investments, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Create comprehensive monthly and annual financial reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts, providing valuable insights for business decision-making.
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal financial reports, ensuring timely and accurate financial information.
  • Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's success.
  • Motivate and lead the finance team to achieve business goals, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported, maintaining the highest level of financial integrity.
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation, ensuring the company's financial stability and growth.
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations, maintaining a strong reputation for financial excellence.
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports, providing strategic financial guidance.
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities, ensuring the company's financial efficiency.
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies, maintaining the highest level of financial accuracy.
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations, ensuring the reliability of financial information.
  • Report to the Managing Director with timely and accurate financial information, providing valuable insights for business decision-making.
  • Assist the Managing Director in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a company accountant, preferably within the construction sector, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and legislation.
  • Proficient in accounting software and MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel, and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team to achieve business goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information effectively.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize work effectively, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification is highly desirable, demonstrating a high level of financial expertise.
