Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cost Management Professional to join our team at Turner & Townsend. As a Senior Cost Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality cost management services to our clients, ensuring that their objectives are met through effective cost management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission Management
    • Coach and mentor junior staff members, allocating roles and responsibilities to ensure effective cost management on all projects
    • Advise clients on feasibility studies and procurement options
    • Manage the estimating and cost planning stages, including presenting the final cost plan to the client
    • Tender and procure, including managing the pre-qualification stage, producing the tender list, and compiling the contractual documents
    • Conduct contract administration, dealing effectively with post-contract cost variances and change control processes
    • Take personal responsibility for peer reviewing cost allowances and carrying out valuations on larger projects
    • Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to the client
    • Contribute to value engineering and negotiate final accounts
    • Interface with clients, project managers, and other consultants at all project stages
    • Work collaboratively with the project management team during project delivery
    • Lead a cost management team, ensuring they deliver on all key responsibilities
  • Marketing and Business Development
    • Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report them to the line manager
    • Develop and maintain a professional network of peers and potential clients
    • Lead bid submissions and identify ways to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products
    • Participate in extracurricular activities, including external groups and networking events
  • Internal Management Accountabilities
    • Knowledge management - ensure key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the Turner & Townsend internal database
    • Process improvement - identify ways to improve internal systems and processes and refer ideas to the line manager
    • Lead in the support, development, and mentorship of junior staff members
    • Manage projects on D365

Reporting and Performance Indicators

A Senior Cost Manager will be assessed on the extent to which:

  • Commissions are managed to the right quality standards and are completed efficiently and on time
  • Service delivery on commissions is in line with the conditions of appointment
  • Good relationships are developed with clients and members of the cross-functional team
  • They work as an effective member of the cost management team
  • Opportunities are identified to develop new business with existing clients
  • Margin levels are kept track of on all commissions
  • Key information and data are effectively cascaded and retained
