Role Overview: As a medical secretary, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive service to consultants and specialty teams, including diary management, arranging appointments, and arranging travel and accommodation.

- To support consultants in non-clinical activities by preparing presentation documents using relevant packages and arranging meetings, setting agendas, circulating agenda/supporting papers as appropriate, and taking minutes at meetings.
- Type dictation from audio transcription of clinical correspondence and documentation.
- Maintain an effective track on inpatient referrals to ensure patients are reviewed promptly.
- Work from initiative using own judgment, acquired knowledge, and tact to deal with queries and resolve situations or refer to appropriate person.
- Deal with enquiries either on the telephone or face to face from patients, consultants, junior doctors, and colleagues in an appropriate manner.
- Ensure all correspondence relating to patient care is acted upon in a timely manner.
Person Specification: Educated to GCSE/O Level standard/equivalent or higher, RSA/OCR Typing/Word Processing Level III or equivalent, Secretarial qualification or equivalent experience, ECDL or equivalent, Shorthand, Experience working in an NHS office environment as a medical secretary, Experience of supervising and motivating a team, Knowledge of medical terminology, Knowledge of internal PAS system.
