Head of Construction

Bellway, a leading UK house builder, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Construction to join their Durham Division. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the management and success of the construction department, ensuring the delivery of all targets and objectives within the constraints of time, cost, and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Construction Department, ensuring compliance with the Group's Health and Safety policy and attendance at all divisional Health and Safety meetings.
  2. Deliver all targets and objectives within specified timescales and budgets, maximizing profit potential through robust management and monitored performance of the construction team.
  3. Ensure adherence to the Bellway Fire Policy across all sites and work closely with sales and customer care departments to deliver exceptional customer care ratings.
  4. Drive and foster a positive culture within the workforce, managing the development of sites in accordance with agreed specifications and programme/number of legal completions as agreed within the division.
  5. Ensure best practice is followed at all times, managing site preliminary/overhead costs and delivering construction/management reports for Main Board.
  6. Mentor, manage, and motivate the construction team, attending monthly valuation meetings and contributing to the success of the division.
Requirements
  1. Senior management experience in a construction function within the built environment, with a proven track record of delivering results.
  2. Relevant CSCS card or equivalent, SMSTS certificate, and HND in Construction or Level 7 Construction NVQ desirable.
  3. Strong communication, listening, and presentation skills, with the ability to recognize problems and deal with them in a speedy and effective manner.
  4. Ability to manage and motivate a team, thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and problem solve and delegate effectively.
  5. IT literate and the ability to adapt to new systems within the commercial environment.
