About the Role
The New Zealand Defence Force is seeking highly skilled medical professionals to join our team as Medics. As a Medic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our soldiers, both in camp and on overseas missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing primary healthcare services to soldiers
- Treating illnesses, injuries, and other medical conditions
- Working in a variety of environments, including camps and on overseas deployments
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care
Career Progression and Training
As a Medic, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge through a range of training programs and courses. These may include:
- Basic training at Waiouru Army base
- Medic training, which includes 18 months of foundation primary healthcare and operational skills
- Continuing professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest medical practices and technologies

Entry Requirements
To be eligible to apply for this role, you must:
- Be at least 17 years of age
- Meet the citizenship and security requirements to gain CV security clearance for this trade
- A Class 1 restricted driver's license is recommended, but is not compulsory
- Hold a NCEA Level 2 certificate
- Be medically fit for service
