About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Food Product Developer to join our team at Mindful Chef. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for developing recipes for our recipe box and owning our existing & new ranges across ready meals, smoothies, breakfasts and much more.

You will be happy working in a fast-paced environment, have excellent attention to detail, great communication skills and be hungry to overcome challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new healthy meal options that meet nutritional standards and dietary guidelines
  • Formulate delicious recipes that adhere to cost and production constraints
  • Oversee both the creation and improvement of the current range, aligning with new Marketplace plan and upcoming food trends
  • Lead and manage any new categories we want to enter e.g snacks, drinks, sauces etc
  • Collaborate with our in-house nutritionist to ensure our meals adhere to nutritional regulations
  • Help develop ranges that hit our customer lead health goals e.g High Fibre, Gut Health, Low Carb etc
  • Be aware of relevant trends and market research to support all sourcing and product development activities, conducting independent market research and trend analysis

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage the implementation of NPD process across our existing and new Marketplace (Non Recipe Box) ranges (currently Ready Meals, Smoothies, Cereals)
  • Coordinate with our suppliers and buying team to source high-quality ingredients
  • Take full ownership of the NPD critical path and tracker to ensure timely delivery
  • Work closely with our sales team to understand D2C product and range and retail requirements
  • Tracking sample organisation, tasting and sign-off each critical stage
  • Brief design team to create packaging, labelling, support material as required
  • Present post-launch reviews, assessing how products are performing in the market
  • Help develop our ranges to hit our customer lead health goals e.g High Fibre, Gut Health, Low Carb etc
  • Be our 'blue-sky thinker' and help us launch new categories - what's next?

About You:

  • You are a passionate foodie, ideally with NPD experience and with a track record of recipe creation, development & writing
  • Customer centric with regular communications to keep your key customers updated on any product and NPD/EPD projects
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ambitious and unafraid to improve existing ranges and stretch the brand into new categories
  • Fluency in stage and gate process with the flexibility to know how to fast-track products/ranges if needed
  • Understanding/experience of how to work with suppliers and internal teams to ensure swift delivery and on-time launches
  • Knowledge of current food trends, particularly in the healthy sector
  • In-depth food and ingredients knowledge
