Mental Health Support Professional

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Children’s Mental Health Support Worker to join the team at a large, successful primary school in Cheshire.
The school has a positive and supportive staff team who work hard to provide the children with a broad and inspirational experience of school. The children are given a range of learning and play opportunities, and are encouraged to be independent learners. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will be required to provide specific support for one child with additional needs, including autism. You will also be required to work with groups and individuals on learning, play and craft activities, and contribute to the day-to-day running of the classroom, e.g. preparing resources, carrying out assessments and managing behaviour.
This role will involve:
- Providing specific support and interventions for children across all curriculum areas
- Leading groups in activities in core curriculum areas such as Phonics, Reading, Maths and Writing
- Working with individuals on learning and development activities
- Preparing resources and areas within the setting
- Carrying out assessments and recording information
- Assisting in the daily routines for the children
- Working with children on a range of learning and play activities, indoors and outdoors
- Liaising with parents
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Children with Additional Needs: Provide specific support to children with additional needs, including autism.
- Lead Groups and Activities: Lead groups in activities in core curriculum areas, such as Phonics, Reading, Maths and Writing.
- Prepare Resources: Prepare resources and areas within the setting to support children’s learning.
- Assist with Day-to-Day Running of the Classroom: Assist with the day-to-day running of the classroom, including carrying out assessments and managing behaviour.
Requirements:
- Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge and experience of working with children with additional needs, including autism.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to work with children, parents and colleagues.
- Team Player: Ability to work as part of a team to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
