Highly Specialist Practitioner Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Practitioner Psychologist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing specialist psychological services to adults with sickle cell disease or thalassaemia.
Main Responsibilities- Provide specialist psychological assessment, treatment, and planning for adults with sickle cell disease or thalassaemia, focusing on identifying and addressing psychological issues that impact symptoms, adherence to treatment plans, and overall well-being.
- Work as an autonomous professional within BPS and HCPC guidelines and codes of conduct, taking responsibility for own work, including treatment and discharge decisions, with support from clinical supervision.
- Provide operational line management and clinical supervision to a Band 7 psychologist.
- Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training) accepted by the HCPC for professional registration.
- Additional training in a specialized area of psychological practice through formal post-qualification training (PG Diploma or equivalent), or a combination of specialist short courses, or an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice.
- Completed training course in clinical supervision.
- Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist, with evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
- Evidence of working with people with medical conditions as a clinical specialist under supervision.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with complex psychological and physical health needs.
- Experience of supervising assistant and trainee psychologists having completed the relevant training.
- Knowledge of legislation related to the client group and mental health issues, child and adult protection, and equalities.
- Doctoral-level knowledge of psychological research methodology and complex statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialized psychological assessments and interventions, including those for individuals living with complex medical conditions.
- Experience in providing cognitive behavioral therapy and/or systemic approaches to therapy.
- Experience of undertaking and interpreting neuropsychological assessments and writing reports based on the results.
- An understanding of models of health psychology in addition to models of psychopathology.
