About the Role

Kier Group, a leading engineering consultancy, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Manchester. As a key member of the Kier Professional Services (KPS) team, you will play a crucial role in delivering mechanical projects within the water sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop pumping system hydraulic calculations and select suitable pumps to meet project requirements.
  • Design pumping systems and pumping stations, including pipework and valving arrangements, to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • Produce equipment specification/datasheets from process requirement specifications and P&ID's for the selection of equipment associated with water, waste water, and other treatment systems.
  • Review and input to P&ID's to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in and contribute to HAZOP meetings to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Requirements:

  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., CEng MICE) or working towards.
  • Several years of postgraduate experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Experience working on pumping stations within the water sector.
