As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Kier Group, you will be working on a range of mechanical projects within the water sector, primarily focusing on large pumping stations. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing pumping system hydraulic calculations and selecting suitable pumps
  • Designing pumping systems and pumping station layouts, including pipework and valving arrangements
  • Creating equipment specifications and datasheets from process requirement specifications and P&IDs for the selection of equipment associated with water, wastewater, and other treatment systems
  • Reviewing and contributing to P&IDs
  • Participating in HAZOP meetings
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • To be a Chartered member of a relevant professional institution (e.g., CEng MICE) or be working towards it
  • To have several years of postgraduate experience
  • To have experience working within the water sector on pumping stations
