One YMCA is a close-knit, friendly and informal HR team that supports each other and keeps learning. We're looking for someone to join our team as an Employee Relations Specialist.

About the Role

We need someone to ensure all people managers are equipped with the knowledge and skills to manage employee relations in their teams and maintain a positive working environment. This includes absence management, performance management, disciplinary and grievance issues, misconduct investigations, bullying and harassment, unlawful discrimination, redundancies, work-life balance requests, and family leave.

Your Responsibilities

  • Advise on absence management, performance management, disciplinary & grievance issues, and family leave.
  • Support formal meetings as note-taker and adviser.
  • Coach, support, and train managers on all aspects of employee relations through 1-1 meetings, informal training sessions, and briefings.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A thorough understanding of how to advise on absence management, performance management, disciplinary & grievance issues, and family leave.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development to demonstrate that you manage gaps in your experience.
  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent level of understanding.

This role offers a competitive salary of £33,707 per annum, plus benefits. You'll also have the opportunity to work remotely and travel regularly to our sites across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Buckinghamshire.
