Role Overview

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEN 1:1 Support Assistant to work with students in Plymouth.

This role involves providing tailored assistance to students with additional needs, including those with EHCPs. You will play a crucial role in supporting children who may face challenges such as ADHD, Autism, trauma, or other behavioural and emotional difficulties, helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive educational setting.

This support will include delivering personalised 1:1 support to students, adapting approaches to meet each child's unique needs. You will use effective strategies to support students with challenging behaviours, including de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed practices.

Collaboration with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals will be key to implementing support plans effectively. You will also assist with creating an inclusive classroom environment that values diversity and individual growth.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or vulnerable individuals with additional needs (experience in education, healthcare, or social services is advantageous)
  • Familiarity with Autism, ADHD, trauma-informed approaches, and behaviour management techniques
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient, understanding approach to working with young people
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
