Job Overview

RINA is a leading provider of engineering design, condition assessment, and failure analysis services for high-value electrical, rotating, and static plant assets in the energy sector. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Leatherhead.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead the design, assurance, and condition assessment of electrical plant assets, including transformers, generators, and switchgear.
  2. Collaborate with the business development team to identify and develop new opportunities.
  3. Craft consultancy proposals, including technical approaches and pricing, in conjunction with our commercial team.
  4. Serve as project and technical lead, ensuring the successful delivery of engineering consultancy projects.
  5. Mentor and develop the technical and consulting skills of less experienced team members.
  6. Represent RINA at seminars and conferences to maintain our leadership in industry developments.
  7. Enhance RINA's service offerings in asset integrity.
Requirements
  1. Educational Background: Minimum 2:1 bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related STEM subject (BEng, MEng, MSc, or PhD). A postgraduate degree and Chartered Engineer status are desirable.
  2. Technical Expertise: Expertise in at least one, and proficiency in at least two of the following: transformers, generators, switchgear. Expertise in at least one and proficiency in at least two of the following: asset design/assurance, condition assessment, failure investigation.
  3. Consultancy Experience: Proven track record of delivering engineering consultancy projects on time and within budget, with strong client relationship management skills.
  4. Business Development Skills: Experience in winning engineering consultancy projects and knowledge of the petrochemical and/or renewable energy sector stakeholders.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent report writing skills, producing high-quality, objective, and concise technical consultancy reports.
  6. Willingness to Travel: Ability to travel worldwide (10-25% of the time) and work on-site (10-15% of the time) for project delivery.
  7. Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience in tasking and supervising project team members.
  8. Safety and Professionalism: Safe and professional use of lab equipment.
  9. Desirable Skills: Experience with the digitisation of asset integrity consultancy, such as predictive health, condition monitoring, and client user-interfaces.
