About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Health Service Manager to join our team at Wigan Council. As a key member of our public health team, you will be responsible for leading key public health programmes, providing public health expertise and leadership for improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead key public health programmes and provide public health expertise and leadership
  • Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Public Health and Consultant in Public Health to deliver action, influence and advice to the Council, NHS and other Wigan partners
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities
  • Provide leadership and management to a team of public health professionals
  • Work flexibly on an ongoing basis to adapt to service and transformation needs
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in public health, including a relevant degree and additional training or experience to Masters level or equivalent. You will also need to be registered, or working towards, UK Public Health Register (Practitioner Registration). The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and understanding of evidence-based public health practice, relevant statutory requirements and proven commitment to addressing health inequalities.
