Consent to Treatment Role at NHS

We are seeking a highly skilled individual to fill a full-time, permanent position as a Consent to Treatment Advanced Practitioner at the NHS. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on clinical practice and contribute to the development of patient-centered care.

The Consent and Mental Capacity Department is a collaborative team that provides support to health professionals and clinical managers in the application of UK law relating to consent to treatment and mental capacity. As a key member of this team, you will have expertise in the application of the Mental Capacity Act and relevant aspects of consent law.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing health board-wide advice, support, and training on consent law to frontline health professionals.
  • Developing and implementing improvement initiatives and audits to enhance consent practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with national guidance and legislation, and contributing to policy development.
  • Representing the NHS at the All Wales Consent to Treatment Group.

Key qualifications and experience include:

  • A relevant professional clinical qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of legislation and case law relating to consent to treatment and mental capacity.
  • Experience of working within a healthcare setting and developing training programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
