Key Responsibilities- Provide expert guidance and support to pregnant women and new mothers on breastfeeding and infant feeding
- Conduct individual and group interventions in various settings, including homes and Family Hub centres
- Manage booking systems and promote services such as colostrum harvesting workshops and support groups
- Develop and implement feeding plans, and set up necessary feeding equipment
- Identify, signpost, and refer mothers to specialist services as needed
- Deliver breastfeeding information to medical students and respond to community setting referrals
- Communicate relevant policies and procedures related to infant feeding to enhance team collaboration
- Tailor communication strategies to meet the diverse needs of different audiences
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality and accurate records
- Identify and act on safeguarding concerns, aligning all communications with UNICEF Baby Friendly standards
- Contact all mothers within 1-2 days post-discharge to assess and support their needs
- Promote breastfeeding to the broader community and provide information for bottle-feeding families
- Engage in mentoring, supervising volunteers, and supporting service-related initiatives
- Collaborate with health professionals to ensure patient-centered care and delivery of consistent information
- Knowledgeable about breastfeeding and infant feeding support standards like UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative
- Committed to equal opportunities and non-discriminatory practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working across various cultures and respecting diverse norms and expectations
- Proficient in maintaining confidentiality and adhering to child protection procedures
- Computer literate with strong organizational skills
- Experienced or qualified in Breastfeeding Support, with a willingness to further training
- Flexible and open to working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
