About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Customer Service Officer. As a key member of our Council Tax and Housing Benefit team, you will play a vital role in supporting residents who are struggling to pay their council tax and may have multiple other issues that require early help and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to residents, responding to their queries and concerns in a professional and understanding manner.
  • Work closely with partner agencies and community groups to identify appropriate pathways for residents and provide support where needed.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of council policies and legislation, applying this knowledge to the role as required.
  • Contribute to the development of a digital-first approach to service delivery, promoting and encouraging residents to use online services to access information and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure excellent customer service is delivered across all channels.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a confident communicator, able to build strong relationships with residents and partner agencies. You will also need to be keen to learn and share good practice, with a passion for delivering excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • A basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for this role.
  • You will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check, which will be deducted from your first four months' salary payments.
