About Reconnect

The Reconnect Service provides vital support and release planning for individuals leaving prison, ensuring a smooth transition from prison healthcare to community healthcare and other essential services. Our team of Peer Support Workers uses their lived experience to increase engagement and support individuals in need.

Your Role

  • Work face-to-face with women, using your understanding and empathy to connect with them and support their transition back into the community.
  • Support women on release from prison who struggle with engaging with services, helping them access care and support in the community.
  • Act as a role model, utilizing your own life experiences to facilitate engagement and recovery.
  • Be creative in finding support networks for clients, using your understanding of services to identify the right support and help them access it.
  • Support women to identify and connect with groups, activities, and programs that can improve their health and wellbeing.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • Direct lived experience of the criminal justice and/or prison system.
  • An understanding of the issues faced by female prisoners being released, such as substance misuse, mental health, accommodation, etc., and an understanding of how these issues can be successfully addressed.
  • A strong belief in the ability of people to turn their lives around.
  • A flexible approach to working, as the post holder may be required to work weekends on a planned basis.
  • The post holder will also be required to work outside normal office hours.
  • An Enhanced DBS with barring list disclosure check prior to commencement in role.
