About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Medical Director to join our Medical Director team at SWASFT. As a senior clinical role, you will be responsible for deputising for the Medical Director(s) as needed, both internally and externally.

Main Responsibilities
  • Events Medical Cover: Provide clinical leadership and governance for events medical cover.
  • Line Management: Lead the line management of Trust Event Doctors.
  • ICB Area Lead: Be a Medical Director lead for an Integrated Care Board (ICB) area.

You will be responsible for defining areas of work in collaboration with the Medical Director team and will be heavily influenced by SWASFT's strategic plan and the directorate's associated objectives.

Requirements
  • Clinical Experience: Significant evidence of clinical experience in the delivery of urgent and emergency care.
  • Clinical Leadership: Experience of medical or clinical leadership within the ambulance service or another NHS organisation.
  • Professional Qualifications: Postgraduate medical qualification, such as MRCGP, FRCEM, or equivalent.
  • Registration: Current membership of the Performers List and registration with the General Medical Council.
Skills and Abilities
  • Leadership: Ability to lead through example and set high standards of clinical leadership.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to work under pressure and solve complex problems.
